I did a clinical rotation here. They do the best they can here. I'm surprised they are as highly rated as they are when you know the freeloaders writing the reviews of this place.

Like many behavioral hospitals, Bayview has a voluntary-admit/voluntary-discharge program. I found Bayview's to be a safe place for kind, humble people to navigate their crises in community with each other. With few exceptions, the staff seemed to like their jobs and care about us. It wasn't physically comfortable, but it wasn't supposed to be. It was just what I needed. If you feel as though you can't trust your mind, take charge of your health by checking yourself in. It's often the quickest path to treatment and the surest way to make it through this ok.

After staying at 6 different psychiatric facilities over the years, I can easily say this one was the highest quality despite having many flaws. I stayed here twice, once in 2013 and again in 2015, as an adolescent. My mother and I agree that Dr McGovern seemed really dismissive of our concerns, and I had trouble getting medical help for a skin problem. That's about the end of my complaints. Janitors came to clean daily, the food is incredibly good for a cafeteria, and they even have a pool open in the summer months; as well as a wonderful gym coach, so we got physical activity therapy. All the techs working with us were always friendly, and our group therapy talks felt helpful.

This place was amazing! The psychiatrists actually knew what they were doing and cared about their patients. The staff and nurses were hilarious and spent time with the patients, getting to know them and letting them know that they were important. The staff enjoyed spending time with the patients and took the time to try and calm them down. I was afraid of the dark when I first went there, and they let me keep my light on, turning it off only after they knew I was asleep. When I would wake up in the middle of the night with a headache and vomiting the staff would bring me my toothbrush and toothpaste, an icepack, and a cup of ice, and the nurse would bring me something for my head. They understood my sensitivity to certain things, both food and other, and did what they could to help. They encouraged me to continue writing my novels and even gave me ideas for them. The day before I left, the staff brought in the materials for ice cream sundaes!! I would like to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Hatira for her support and the amazing gift she gave me upon discharge as well as for teaching me a little Russian, Mrs. Andrea for her amazing support and ability to make everyone smile, Ms. Liby for her constant support and tough-love (and you go form that shelter!!), Dr. Estrada for everything he did to get me back on my feet and recover from the damage done by so many others, and all of the other staff and nurses from the adolescent unit and the cafeteria ladies for their excellent cooking. Most of all I would like to thank, though he is no longer working there, Mr. Harris (Hagrid) for everything. I miss all of you and this was the best place ever. I recommend sending a loved one there if anyone needs the help. Five stars is hardly enough to describe my experience, and I hope there are others whom will agree with me.
